Game 23 ICE v Stars

Wow what a fantastic weekend. With no less than 9 players away representing Victoria at the Tange competition in WA and some of the main squad out due to illness, Medibank Melbourne Ice skated with the core squad and we witnessed one of the most dominate displays so far this season.  The ICE were clinical in claiming the victory and out played the highly talented Stars for more than 2 periods.  Credit to the Stars they never gave up and really tested the discipline of the ICE when they slotted 2 goals in 90 seconds to start the third period.  However it would not be enough and the ICE skated to a comfortable 6-4 victory in front of a sellout Sunday crowd, to stretch their lead at the top of the table to 12 points.

MIM and MIW Championship Banners

Before the game the 2010 Championship banners were raised and the Melbourne Ice Women joined the men on the ice in front of a standing ovation.

With just 5 games left ICE are poised to claim the best winning percentage (currently at 81.2%) in the leagues history and take the minor premiership.  ICE currently have the best GF (goals for) and GA (goals against) record in the league and have only lost one game in regulation, a truly remarkable achievement considering the depth and talent across the entire competition.
