The Melbourne Ice Academy is a program of excellence and community involvement. The Academy mirrors the family values that sit at the core of the Melbourne Ice organisation. Since 2002 Melbourne Ice has been building a sustainable model for long term survival and growth, the foundations are now cemented in place and we can build programs that will complement the development of ice hockey at all levels and engage with our community helping people from disadvantaged backgrounds find happiness through our sport and a healthy lifestyle.
An Academy requires focus and commitment, hence the roll out will be phased beginning with 11 players from the junior ranks of Ice Hockey Victoria (IHV), who along with their families have been engaged with Melbourne Ice and provided not just support but valued feedback that has shaped phase 1.
The Academy’s program will include: on and off ice training, psychology, nutrition, health and well being. As the Academy matures we will be adding activities designed to enhance and improve life skills such as; how to write a resume and prepare for a job interview. The sport of ice hockey is a center piece for the Academy, however we put family values and citizenship above all.
Melbourne Ice maintains an open arms policy to anyone who wants to be “Part of the ACTION!” and enjoy the fun, excitement and share our family values.
